iPhone App Lets Catholics Practice Confessing On The Go
A $2 iPhone app walks users through a simulation of the Catholic sacrament of confession, offering sinners the opportunity to admit their misdeeds via their phones.
Reuters spoke to one of the trio who runs Indiana-based app manufacturer Little iApps, which created Confession: A Roman Catholic App:
“Our desire is to invite Catholics to engage in their faith through digital technology. Taking to heart Pope Benedict XVI’s message from last years’ World Communications Address, our goal with this project is to offer a digital application that is truly ‘new media at the service of the word.”
The app is meant to ease the faithful into the confession process, and won’t offer absolution over the phone, the story says. Users will still have to go to a priest to seek forgiveness.
