UConn Football Donor Demands His Millions Back Because He Didn't Get To Pick Coach
People who accept donations for colleges may want to start handing out receipts that indicate “all giving is final,” because moneybags donors are starting to ask for refunds.
Earlier this month we heard about a man who sued to get his $40,000 back from a college that rejected his son, and now a UConn football booster wants his $3 million returned after the school didn’t consult with him when it hired a new football coach.
Sports Illustrated reports the man penned a firm letter to the school’s athletic director that called the hiring process “a slap in the face and embarrassment to my family.” He followed up with “We want our money and respect back.”
UConn’s sheepish reply was that the school “did receive and acknowledge” the donor’s advice but “in the end, the decision was appropriately made by the university in the best interests of UConn and our football program.”
