Ex-Disney Worker Pleads Guilty To Skimming $83,000 In Guest Credit Cards
Maybe she overdosed on saccharine. A Walt Disney World resort front desk clerk has plead guilty after getting caught for placing skimmers on the computers at work, ripping off 178 people, 32 banks and credit-card issuers of over $83,000.
Following up on suspicious credit card charge complaints, detectives found the skimmer attached to one of the front desk computers at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. When they searched her home, they found more skimmers, computer equipment, and underneath her mattress, a print-out with 77 credit card numbers.
The ex-employee said a guy she was introduced to a car repair shop hooked her up with some of the equipment and money to buy more, agreeing to buy the credit card numbers she skimmed off her.
The ex-Disney employee plead guilty to fraud and related activity in connection with credit card, and aggravated identity theft. The first is worth a max of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, the second 2 years and another $250,000.
Always review your monthly credit card statements and report any suspicious charges, even if you’re in “The Most Magical Place On Earth.”
