New Study Says Regular Coffee Drinking Doesn't Make You More Alert
Drink coffee every morning? Love how it makes you more alert? Well apparently you’re just about as alert as you would be if you weren’t regularly drinking coffee. You see, not drinking coffee once you’re used to it actually makes you less alert than a normal person. So you’re just drinking coffee to make yourself feel normal.
From the BBC:
“Although frequent consumers feel alerted by caffeine, especially by their morning tea, coffee, or other caffeine-containing drink, evidence suggests that this is actually merely the reversal of the fatiguing effects of acute caffeine withdrawal,” wrote the scientists, led by Peter Rogers of Bristol’s department of experimental psychology.
We suppose this technically means that coffee is a waste of money, but, whatever, we grind our own beans at home.
