Yesterday, we reported that production at the ConAgra facility where Slim Jims are manufactured will not resume until fall due to damage from the horrific explosion in June. This information is incorrect. Employees will return to work on July 19, and production will resume on July 27. [WRAL] (Thanks, Lon!)

Interesting that they can run production for 22 days without any employees. They must use a fully automated dried sausage stick pump. Come to think of it, I could use one of those, myself.
Not to be all nitpicky about it, but it’s probably July 27, and not June 27.
@missdona: Typo. Fixed it!
@Laura Northrup: I see it right on the home page, but still June when you click the story. And I refreshed.
@missdona: It’s a bug. It’ll take the page a while to figure out that I fixed it.
@Laura Northrup: Fail at fixing the typo.
However, it would be pretty cool if the factory does all this by itself without workers that didn’t show up for 20 some days.
My local Wawa hasn’t had my favorite type of Slim Jim recently… I wonder if this is why. (Yes, Slim Jim actually makes a product or two that taste good and aren’t horribly unhealthy)
@Cant_stop_the_rock: Slim Jim and healthy are not words that belong together.
@pecan 3.14159265:
In addition to the ground and pressed sticks that are commonly known as Slim Jims, they have regular beef jerky products that are similar nutritionally to other brands of beef jerky.
@Cant_stop_the_rock: Aren’t they all chemicaled (new word..) up? Everytime I check out an ingredient list for a beef jerky product I shudder.
THE SNACKS MUST FLOW!
Oh thank God. The great Slim Jim shortage of 09 was really testing my patience. I’ve had to susbstitute dehydrated oversalted nitrided rats! Seriously, it was the only thing that tasted the same.
Thank you, oh, Thank you great Snack God. I will erect a temple made out of Slim Jims in your honor!
I bailed on Slim Jims a year or two ago when it seemed like they changed the receipe….
