Now it’s just getting ridiculous: Here’s a job offer looking to hire a review spoofer, a’la Belkin. If you’re going to commit review fraud, then you should at least learn to be subtle about it.

Hourly rate: below $5.00 per hour
At least those arseholes don’t get paid well..
@ScottRose:Most of the bids will be from India/Pakistan.
$5 per hour is a fortune for the majority of the oDesk users!
I reported the listing as inappropriate.
You can ‘flag’ that job posting as inappropriate as long as you share your email address and name. And that’s exactly what I did citing the job’s purpose what unethical and was based on consumer deception. I suggest everyone do the same.
@GavinEstecado: Saw that, did the same. I think anyone found doing that kind of crap needs to have their ip permanently banned from whatever retailer it was done in.
@GavinEstecado: Reported!
What an odd retailer. Strollers, body armor, and fetal skeletons from the same place? Man I can save on shipping here – and no I did not get the job…
You have got to be kidding me!!! Makes me stop and think about the shining reviews I read on shopping websites… Come on people!!!
@briguy73: Yes it does. I have read a few reviews that seemed a bit too glowing. As in there were no negative or even neutral reviews.
I noticed this on Sally Beauty’s website. They have product reviews and they all say every product is great. That raised a real red flag that they are populating their reviews, compensating people or removing all but the extremely positive ones.
Hey guys. I just wanted to let you all know that I bought some body armor from http://www.sylvancompany.com and it was fantastic. I got free shipping and it was very fast. I highly recommend them.
http://www.treasurehutneronline.com.
@Kuonji: So how’s the sub $5 an hour wage working for you Kuonji?
Does writing negative review pay more?
I agree with Kuonji. Last week I dropped my wedding ring in the toilet at my mistresses house and the Underwater Scuba Aquavision Metal Detector that I got from sylvancompany.com was a life saver! The fast and discrete shipping was a plus too, nobody wants to explain that story to their spouse
!!!
I also enjoy the “2000LB (D1) HAND WINCH”, which I use to pry myself off the couch after those NCIS marathons!
@oneliketadow: You forgot the http://www.treasurehutneronline.com part. I think they should only compensate you $2.50.
Isn’t this actually really illegal, advertising for someone to conspire to fraud?
Would the Consumerist be willing to match the $5 hourly rate if I tip them off to every time I post a bogus review? Then we can run stories about every one of them!
Wow. . . candidates pimp themselves out as “link builders” and “forum posters?”
I wonder if there are jobs for “standing by the microwave listening for popcorn kernel pop delays” and “twitterer for hire.”
Someone should notify the sylvancompany or whoever it is about this. I’m wondering if this is the work of some misguided recruiter or other PR contractor, etc.
@Shadowman615: Well, what are the chances that sylvancompany is in on it? I’d say…pretty high.
I second that. My body armor was so fantastict, it defelcted 11 9mm rounds fired by an angry convenience store owner. I cant say good enough things about it. The fabric wasn’t even torn!!
Then the next morning, I went back with my shiny new T-4150 metal detector (a FANTASTIC value at $499) and found all 11 slugs in less than 5 minutes, plus I found a gold Rolex watch and a pair of diamind earrrings with platinum studs (heloooo Valentine’s day!). I went to the recycling ceneter and put some serious change in my pocket. Thank you http://www.treasurehunteronline.com!
Man this is starting to scare me. All the reviews I’ve read about in the past have just gone out the window. I’m going to start googling reviewer names and seeing if reviewers have reviewed other products before I begin trusting them.
For example, try googling my magnoliasouth name. You’re going to get TONS of hits and except for the actual website (magnoliasouth.com) they are ALL me.
