  1. Is steep and cheap like woot? B/c I didn’t see a harness, but they did have other deals.

@Git Em SteveDave displays attention-grabbing vanity: Similar to Woot, but instead of one deal per day, they do one deal at a time until the item sells out.

  3. @Ben Popken: I’ll have to add them to my rotation of sites I check during the day. Do they usually feature just outdoorsy stuff? I would have liked that harness. You never know when you might need to repel from somewhere.

@Git Em SteveDave displays attention-grabbing vanity: Just found them this morning, yeah, looks like it’s for outdoor activity gear. They also have some alerts tools so you can get notified of new deals instead of having to check for them.

SAC is fantastic if you’re not in a hurry for outdoor gear. You just want for it to show up on there. Its a part of backcountry.com which is a great online retailer.

  6. @Ben Popken: @homerjay: Thank you for the alerts link. It’s on my google homepage now above my Consumerist feed. And thanks for the review, HJ

If you want to repel things, try magnets. Now if you want to rappel, that’s another story. :-)

I’d be sketchy about buying a harness that I can’t try on first. Most outdoorsy stores actually have a rope rigged up so you can actually tie and and hang from it and see how it fits.

This is Tanga of Outdoorsy Stuff is pretty cool though. I’ll be watching for a deal on a helmet!

  8. RandomHookup says:

@Troy F.: Back in my day, we just made our repelling harnesses with a rope. And we were happy to have it (though our nuts were severely crushed).

Then there’s Sac Attack [sac.gearattack.com] this is where you can trade something you bought online or look for a deal you missed on Steep and Cheap

  10. Ben, get ya a streetteam link on the Threadless site, and for your referrals you can collect big time streetteam points, and then give them away to dedicated Consumerist readers. Or get ya some t’s

@tinyorangepig: Or better yet, use mine. ;)
