Verizon has penned a light-hearted response to the funny TWC “fiber” commercial that we posted earlier:
Bottom line: these guys may be selling some soggy cold cereal, but FiOS is an all-you-can eat buffet.
For what it’s worth: here’s our response to their response.

THAT’S AWESOME. I can’t believe I got rickrolled by consumerist.
Also you should have shown them a montage of the ‘cajun style’ homes they left in their installation wake. TWC may defraud and rob people, but at least it didn’t burn their houses down in an attempt to install internet.
Genius!
Holy shit, the internet has come full circle. I’ve been owned.
Jeez… I had so many windows opened I didn’t even notice the Rick Roll and just bitched at a coworker and swore revenge.
That explains his puzzled look.
I cant see the response!!! I get a dead link!!! What happens? How does Verizon Respond?
Agh!
Rickrolled! YES!
ahhh LMAO damn it ricky bobby! lmao
I watched the whole rickroll out of respect.
AHHHH! You A-holes! yOU RICKROLLED ME!
oops! I guess I was expecting a vid… my bad
That song is classic, I thought the guy was black?!
This is a good time to mention the Youtube Title Adder userscript.
Bahahahahaha. Great!
I can’t believe I got Rick Rolled by Consumerist.
RICKROLLED WTF??? MEG YOU INSIDIEOUS B***H!!!
But really, I lol’ed when I realized what happened.
meg marco FTW!
Oh, ouch – that was just painful!
Linky no worky.
Man, have you guys seen that All Your Base flash that’s sweeping the nation? It’s absolutely hilarious!

This is what FiOS is like in other countries. No RickRoll, I swear.
Not the other one, this one- sorry.
Ahhh rickrolled. lol.
Why can’t I resist singing along??
pwned.
@jamar0303: Why is Video #2 so mesmerizing? I… can’t… stop… must… play… again…
OK, I pulled myself away. 6,279円 (≈$60)/month isn’t bad for symmetric 100 Mbps. That’d be nice.
@Michael Belisle: Yep. I have that song stuck in my head now.
It’s amazing, though- over in Japan there are ≈20 different fiber broadband providers available because in Japan fiber lines are treated like copper lines are treated in America. It’s a shame Verizon got to keep their fiber to themselves- otherwise we might have that kind of speed too.
FLAWLESS VICTORY
Oh, also- that first video is just as interesting. “Sense of Release” is just not something you get from Verizon, unfortunately.
Oh, one more-
[www.youtube.com]
Yes, Sony is an ISP in Japan.
@jamar0303: Wow. I have nothing
Well if we use verizons analogy then atleast with the cold soggy cereal it was very cheap, at the buffet you eat first then pay later only to realise the buffet was like 40 dollars a person.
Fios speed might be great but their billing and customer service is HORRIBLE.
I am lucky because I have cablevision wich maxed out docsis 2 and competes very well with fios. It also helps that verizon refuses to give tv service to certain parts of long island and by doing so is giving cablevision tiume to upgrade to docsis 3.
@majortom1981: Spending a bit of time in Japan has spoiled me. FiOS speed is in no way “great” compared to what I had. After you’ve tried symettric 100Mbps you won’t want to go back.
Seriously, though — clicking on the Verizon policy blog link immediately times out.
Note that I am using TW for my internet needs.
CONSPIRACY?
It’s the same for me, but I’m not even in America.
Nice, Meg.
@jamar0303: Verizon has spent billions on fiber. It just didn’t make business sense to build a brand new network and let the competition get a free ride.
the verizon link doesn’t work for me
I laughed….
The commercial has been on for awhile, but in my experience Verizon is much better.
But I’m sure time warner knows the difference between .002$ and .002 Cents.
Damnit, I got rick rolled twice in one week!!! Gotta memorize those URLs!!!
@Bunklung: Yeah, that’s the problem. It shouldn’t have been Verizon building the fiber. Over in Japan it was the electric companies (mostly- Yahoo! and one of their smaller telecom companies did also, but they didn’t complain about other providers using it) that did the fiber network, thus making it a utility like any other. So, bam, competition, everyone’s offering 100M symmetric for $60. In America you won’t get half of that for the same money because there’s only ONE FiOS provider.
Verizon link doesn’t work for me either.
Is it because their stuff is only available in the US?
WTF is a Rick Roll?
I instinctively glance at YouTube URLs before clicking, checking for that infamous “uuiU” ending, after having been roll’ed one too many times.
I win this time Ms. Marco! Mwahaha!
