Chick-Fil-A Reintroducing Original BBQ Sauce After Smokehouse Backlash

Change: it can be a terrifying, unsavory experience for dedicated folks who already know what they like. That’s why Chick-fil-A is bringing its classic BBQ sauce out of retirement, after replacing it with a “Smokehouse” version this summer that failed to please some loyal customers..

On Tuesday, the chain announced that the original sweet and savory sauce will return (h/t Thrillist), ending months of backlash from customer demanding its return.

“When we introduced a new Smokehouse Barbeque Sauce in July, we thought we were serving up a bold new flavor you’d love. But your response was even bolder,” the company said.

The BBQ sauce will be back at restaurants nationwide on Monday, Nov. 7, while the usurper Smokehouse sauce will vanish from menus on that very same day.

The chain is also turning sour vinegar into sweet, hashtaggable social media fodder with a video in which employees read some of the angry Tweets the company received in response to the sauce switcheroo:
