Uber Now Selling Physical Gift Cards In Stores

Following in the footsteps (or the wheel tracks, as it were) of Lyft, Uber will now also sell physical gift cards in stores.

Starting today, Uber customers can buy gift cards at Walmart stores nationwide, the company announced (as well as online at uber.com/gift-cards). The plan is to sell the cards at CVS and Target locations eventually.

“Whether it’s exploring a new city, a night out with friends, or simply a safe ride home, Uber is ready to help get the special people in your life where they want to go. And treating them to these experiences has never been easier with the introduction of the Uber gift card,” Uber product manager Drew Quinn wrote in a blog post.

The cards can be redeemed directly in the Uber app, and never expire.

In August, Lyft announced that it would sell $20 gift cards at Starbucks locations in a partnership with the coffee chain.
