Lyft Will Soon Be Selling $20 Gift Cards At Starbucks Stores

In a move that its rivals haven’t tried yet, Lyft says it will start selling gift cards in a new partnership with Starbucks.

The $20 gift cards will be available at participating Starbucks stores in 20 U.S cities starting this week, Lyft announced on Tuesday. To sweeten the deal for the buyer as well as the recipient, each Lyft card comes with a $5 Starbucks gift card.

This isn’t the first time Lyft has partnered up with Starbucks: last year the two teamed up to offer ride services for baristas, and Starbucks perks to both Lyft drivers and riders.

The goal here is to “cross-pollinate” Lyft riders and Starbucks coffee drinkers so both companies benefit, Oliver Hsiang, Lyft’s vice president of partnerships told CNBC.

“There are lots and lots of Starbucks stores in the cities that Lyft operates, and we know that people are taking Lyft rides to and from these locations,” he said. “In fact, Starbucks was the number one most-visited coffee shop for us last year.”
