JetBlue Waives Airfares For Family Members Of Orlando Massacre Victims

In the wake of this weekend’s horrific violence at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, where at least 49 people were murdered and dozens more injured, JetBlue is offering to provide free airfare to the family members and domestic partners of the victims who need to travel to or from Orlando.

“JetBlue is providing free seats on its available flights to/from Orlando for immediate family and domestic partners of victims who were killed or injured,” reads a statement on the airline’s blog from this afternoon. “Those family members and domestic partners requiring travel assistance can contact 1-800-JETBLUE for details.”

The airline has already agreed to waive change/cancelation fees for flights in and out of the Florida city through tomorrow, for travelers who rebook for travel before June 21.

“We want to do our part to help the victims of this tragedy, as well as support the Orlando community through this difficult time,” writes the company.

As for other major carriers, only Delta seems to be making any similar considerations. The airline does not have any specific waiver in place but posts on its blog that it is “offering situational flexibility based on individual needs,” and encourages affected travelers to contact Delta Reservations or Sales Support for assistance.
