There are loyal customers, and then there are customers who go a bit farther than showing up for a free coffee after 12 visits. Like the patrons of a North Carolina Waffle House, who police say chased an armed robbery suspect out of the restaurant after he demanded cash.

According to police, an armed suspect tried to rob the restaurant early Sunday morning, pointing what witnesses described as an AK-47 style rifle at employees and ordering them to give him cash, reports ABC 11.

A patron confronted him and a scuffle ensued, police said. The suspect ran out of the restaurant with several patrons hot on his heels, officials said, and was last seen jumping a fence in a neighborhood nearby.

Police are asking that anyone with information on the attempted robbery to give them a call.

In the meantime, while being a good person is an admirable thing, it’s not always safe to take matters into your own hands. Be careful out there.
