While some people have touted the recently launched Sling TV service as an option for cord-cutters, it’s really better-targeted to consumers who don’t have cable but want a few more live-TV viewing options. That’s why the service is now pushing deals that will allow some Sling subscribers to get free or deeply discounted streaming devices.

One deal is a partnership with Amazon that provides free Amazon Fire TV sticks (normally $39) or $50 off the Fire TV box (normally $99) for people willing to prepay for three months of Sling service.

The second deal involves Roku products. Again, there’s the option of a free Roku stick (normally $50) or 50% off the Roku 3 box, which normally retails for $100. Just like the Amazon deal, this requires subscribers prepay for three months of Sling service.

Now we’ve certainly expressed some concerns about possible shortcomings with Sling TV, but there are still many people out there who will see a value in the $20/month streaming service. If you’re willing to make the three-month commitment and have also been considering buying one of these streaming devices for your TV, then it’s definitely something worth looking into further.
