Starbucks Barista Rescues Two From Cab After Manhole Explodes In The Street

We’d all like to think we could do the right thing and be brave enough to dash into danger to save someone else, but the reality is, it sounds pretty scary. One quick-thinking Starbucks barista in New York City had his movie moment when he ran into the street to help a cab driver and his passenger after a manhole cover exploded underneath their vehicle.

The 23-year-old worker ran out of the store when he saw the explosion around 6:30 a.m., reports DNAInfo.com, and saw that the driver and his passenger were trapped inside the car, with the windshield shattered.

“They couldn’t get the doors open. I pulled the driver out the driver-side window and helped the passenger get out of the sunroof,” he told DNAInfo. “They were both panicking.”

Both were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and their rescuer says he just did what anyone would do.

“I just reacted like anyone else would’ve,” he said. “It was some way to start off the week.”
