This Hack Squeezes The Most Calories You Can Get Out Of Taco Bell For Your Money

No one has ever said, “I’d like to get the least amount of stuff for my money.” So when you’ve only got a few bucks and need to fill up the old stomach hole with food, you want to stretch those spare dollars as far as they can go, toward the most calories you can shove in there. And of course, there’s a hack for that, if you don’t mind eating Taco Bell.

Kotaku shines a light on The Taco Bell Disrupt, a hack created during a recent hackathon by a developer who came up with the idea — when else? — when he was hungry and running to Taco Bell late at night.

He scraped data from Taco Bell’s website, threw that together and came up with the resulting hack, which shows how you can get the most calories for your budget. So yes, be prepared to confront your caloric choices.

Users simply email tacobell@sendmail.io with the amount of money you can spend in the subject, without any dollar signs or punctuation. A few minutes later you’ll get a result spit back at you, like the below I got for my theoretical $4:

One weird thing — I tried it with $101 and $1,000,000 just for the sake of trying, and got the same result — a limit of $82.82 for the total cost and a total calorie count of 13,450.

Maybe because if you’ve got $1,000,000 to spend at Taco Bell you might as well cut yourself off at $82.82 and then just buy the dang place.

Because we here at Consumerist would never subsist entirely on a diet of Taco Bell — I don’t know if any of my colleagues even like the stuff — it’d be interesting to see this tool roll out to a variety of establishments, or perhaps suggest a variety of menus taking into account how much I love cheese.
