Wisk And Costco Knock Tide From Top Detergent Greatness Spot

Tide might be the detergent of choice for criminals, but our stain-fighting cousins over at Consumer Reports tell us that in terms of actual quality, there’s a new champion in town. Products from Wisk and Kirkland (Costco’s house brand) took the top spots in their most recent detergent rankings.

Among liquid detergents, Wisk Deep Clean took came in first in their overall tests. Tide Plus Bleach Alternative Vivid White + Bright came in second.

If you prefer convenient and delicious detergent pods, this year’s top contender was Kirkland Signature Ultra Clean Pacs from Costco. They cost 14 cents per load of laundry, and are all pre-measured and convenient and stuff. Tide took the top prize last year, but their Pods have to settle for a silver medal this year.

IF you’re looking for an environmentally conscious detergent, Seventh Generation Natural Laundry Detergent did the least crappy job out of all “natural” products. If you’re looking to cut down on energy use, Tide for Cold Water performed well.

There’s still a vibrant trade of Tide for drugs (38 people were arrested in a crackdown in California earlier this month) but maybe the criminals will expand their brand portfolio. Or not.
