Sen. Schumer Would Really Appreciate It If Airlines Could Reverse Hike In Flight Change Fees
Grumpy over those recently change fee hikes Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, U.S. Aiways and United Airlines instituted? You’re not the only one — New York Sen. Charles Schumer is in your corner. He’s asking, well, kind of demanding, that the airline industry take back those hikes so families can afford to travel together.
Schumer thinks the fee change from $150 to $200 those four airlines instituted could put a damper on family time.
His point of view is that families often plan summer vacations well in advance and buy non-refundable tickets to cut down on cost, notes the Associated Press. But due to the unpredictable nature of family life, sometimes plans can change at the last minute.
He’s making no bones about his displeasure with the fees, saying “I am asking, really demanding” that the four airlines “put the brakes on these out-of-control changes of flight fees.”
It remains to be seen whether or not the airlines will listen to Chuck or stick to what they do best, trying to make money. Valiant effort in any case.
