Yeah Yeah Yeahs Ask Concertgoers To Say No No No To Using Their Phones During Show

Since it seems that people can’t stop using their phones for even a few moments to enjoy a live concert, the members of the band Yeah Yeah Yeahs are taking the proactive step of telling fans to put their stupid smartphones away so they can remember what it was like to have a good time in 2005.

The band performed last night at Manhattan’s Webster Hall, where there was a sign on the door reading:

“PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THE SHOW THROUGH A SCREEN ON YOUR SMART DEVICE/CAMERA.

PUT THAT SHIT AWAY as a courtesy to the person behind you and to Nick, Karen and Brian.

MUCH LOVE AND MANY THANKS!

YEAH YEAH YEAHS”

The folks at SPIN say that Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O announced a brief moratorium early in the show to give the concertgoers a few minutes to take photos with their phones before asking them to “put those motherf*ckers away,” and SPIN says that people obliged, “for the most part.”

As a shorter dude who often ends up standing behind people obsessed with raising their phones high above the crowd to snap photos all night long, I personally applaud the actions of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and hope others follow their lead.
