Hi there. I’m handsome and I bring things to your home that you want. Isn’t life great?

Taking aim at Amazon, Google has launched a service for consumers in the San Francisco area that allows them to browse items from a selection of major retailers then get them delivered the same day.

Google has already been testing its Google Shopping Express service, using its own employees in the region as guinea pigs. This morning, it opened the currently free service up to people in San Francisco and some nearby cities.

Businesses that are included in Google Shopping Express from the start are Target, Walgreens, American Eagle Outfitters, Staples, Office Depot, Toys R Us, Babies R Us, Blue Bottle Coffee Co., Raley’s Nob Hill Foods, and the Palo Alto Sport Shop & Toy World, though the company is actively soliciting new retailers on the service’s website.

That’s also where people in and around San Francisco can sign up to try the service for free. However, Google says it does intend to charge something in the future, but has given no timeline nor info on what the price might be.

Once registered, customers will be able to order from an array of items at the various, participating stores and pick a timeframe for delivery. Google messengers will then pick up the selected items at the stores and deliver.

If anyone in the Bay Area signs up and uses the service, we’d love to hear some feedback after you’ve received a few orders.
