Facebook Rolls Out Gifts Service Today To All Users So You Can Send Your Friends Wine

Hello, Facebook friends! I like you so much I’m going to send you presents on the Internet, like iTunes gift cards or wine. Yes, as long as you’re at least 21 and I’m over 21 (I am!) I can give you the gift of the grape via Facebook. There are only two weeks left of shopping before Christmas, so Facebook is banking on this new service, which rolls out to all users today, to bring in the bucks.

“Now you can instantly send real gifts, digital gift cards, charitable donations and wine to your friends right from Facebook,” the company says on its site.

As CNET notes, Facebook is partnering with a plethora of wine companies including Bouche, Blackbird, Bonterra, Capture Wines, Clark-Claudon, David Family, Domaine Chandon, Goose Cross, Mondavi, Mutt Lynch, Recuerdo, Tasting Room, Terra Valentine, Titus, Twisted Oak, and Wine Country Gift Baskets. What, no Boone’s Farm?

The wine won’t even be shown to anyone underage, and if you try to send some to an under-21-er, you’ll get a smackdown via message that says you just can’t do it.

Facebook isn’t the first company (nor will it be the last, we’re guessing) to appeal to the boozy at heart with online wine delivery. Amazon recently announced its expansion into the wine business as well, joining e-commerce staple Wine.com.

If you don’t want to spread joy via alcohol, there are plenty of other food and drink options, home products, kids stuff and even the ability to send charitable donations in a friend’s name.
