KG regretting his analogy.

Professional athletes don’t get paid for their prowess at making analogies, but when they have to speak to the press after each and every game, they come up with some creative ways of expressing their opinions.

Take, for instance, Boston Celtics player Kevin Garnett, who went from inadvertently insulting Comcast in a post-game interview to offering up his endorsement of DirecTV.

Talking about his team’s 2-2 start to the season, Garnett rambled [via BusinessInsider]:

“You can’t speed chemistry up. The more you practice, the more you get familiar with each other. There’s no hit the fast forward button here. You got Comcast. Some shows you can’t fast forward through, you got to let it go through and watch the silly-ass commercials and be pissed, right? This is what this is. Did I just take a shot at Comcast? F— it, I did. So what. I’m a Direct-TV guy anyway. Anyway look, this is what this. I’m not helping myself am I? F— it, anyway that’s what’s this is. We totally messed that up, right? But this is one them things where it just takes its course and you can’t speed anything up. Next question. Please.”

While the folks at DirecTV are probably figuring out a way to work this news into a new ad campaign, we wonder how the folks at Comcast SportsNet New England will feel about it, especially since they agreed to a 20% equity stake in the team in 2011 as part of a 20-year extension on Celtics broadcasting rights.
