Florida’s Alleged Serial Used Enema Returner Has Been Apprehended

You can purchase disposable saline enemas with confidence: the man in Florida who would purchase, use, and return alarming quantities of them has been apprehended. Though in this context, an “alarming quantity” would be “more than zero.” The man’s federal indictment was just unsealed, and he was charged with, among other things, having “reckless disregard that another person would be placed in danger of death or bodily injury.”

Our previous post on the man’s saline rampage is sealed in the Consumerist archives, but here’s the gist: some CVS employees noticed that a customer kept buying and returning enemas. Of course, the enemas were sealed and unused. Or so the employees thought. The man would allegedly open the boxes from the bottom, use the enemas, replace them, then glue the box back together for the “return” portion of this strange, strange scam.

He faces up to ten years in prison and a fine as high as $250,000. The federal Department of Justice (which was involved because the scheme involves interstate commerce) told media outlets that they believe all customers who may have purchased the enemas have been notified.
