A U.S. Airways flight en route from Paris to North Carolina had to be rerouted to Bangor, Maine, where an allegedly unruly passenger was arrested because she reportedly told a member of the cabin crew she had a “surgically implanted device” inside of her body.

According to reports, the woman — who officials say is a French citizen born in Cameroon and who was traveling alone to the U.S. — passed a note to a airline staffer on the airplane about the supposedly implanted device.

The TSA has confirmed that it received “reports of a passenger who exhibited suspicious behavior during flight,” which was deemed a “security issue.”

F-115 jets were sent to intercept the aircraft and escort it to Bangor, where the woman was taken off the plane.

Congressman Peter King of NY, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, tells ABC News that the woman has since been checked by doctors who saw no evidence of recent surgery.

The AP reports that the plane was recently cleared to continue on its way to its destination in Charlotte, NC.
