Boots The Cat Heads To New Home At Shelter After Being Saved From Late Owner's Will

Boots, a Chicago-area cat, made headlines last week when Fifth Third bankers in charge of executing her late owner’s will made the decision not to euthanize the kitty, despite that being a term in the document. And now Boots has been moved to her new home, a no-kill shelter called Cats Are Purrsons Too.

A Cook County probate judge spared Boots’ life last week after Fifth Third trustees felt uncomfortable about putting her down and made a case for her in court. And now, reports the Chicago Tribune, she headed to her new home accompanied personally by bankers from Fifth Third. The bank is also donating cat supplies, food and toys to make Boots’ new home a comfortable one.

People from as far away as Tennessee have reportedly expressed interest in Boots since her story hit the news last week, so perhaps she won’t be a shelter kitty for much longer.

A neighbor of Boots’ late owner theorized that the woman may have been worried that her pets would end up in abusive hands when she died, so she decided to instruct trustees to euthanize any cats she owned at the time of her death.

We’ve gotta say, ol’ Boots looks pretty sassy sauntering around in her picture. Have a good life, Boots!
