How To Banish Google's Personalized Gimmickry From Your Search Results

If you’re not a fan of Google’s new personal search results and would rather return to the old Googling you’re used to, you can do so with a few simple steps.

Lifehacker concocted a how-to guide to de-personalize your Google searches.

Here’s the rundown: While you’re signed in to your Google account, click on the cog-shaped settings icon in the upper right corner of the page, and go to search settings. Then find “personal results,” click through and choose “do not use personal results.”

If, for some reason, you miss the personalized search, you can always go through the process and re-enable personal results. It’s a bit of a head-scratcher as to why Google saw fit to make its newfangled search concept the default, forcing users who don’t like it to jump through hoops to get rid of it.
