Those Anti-Skimming Gas Pump Stickers Don’t Work If You Do It Like This

giantshellstation

Last month, we wrote about the new-ish practice of slapping stickers on gas pumps to prevent credit card skimmers. But someone at this Shell station seemed to have missed the point of the sticker completely.

See, the way the sticker works isn’t just by placing it on the pump, but by placing it on a spot where the sticker would be broken if someone broke into the machine and inserted a skimming device.

So when Consumerist reader Christopher spotted this error, he was quick to photograph it with his iPhone using the Consumerist Tipster app.

Speaking of the Tipster app, the Android version is heading into the home stretch and we should have more information in the coming weeks.
