Cheech & Chong Still Encouraging Baby Boomers To Get High… On Fiber

Once upon a time, the comedy duo of Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong (some refer to them as Cheech and Chong) were as closely associated with marijuana as rolling papers and bongs. But oh how times have changed and priorities have shifted from getting high on pot brownies to getting high amounts of fiber from brownies.

The folks at General Mills have hired Cheech and Chong to shill for their new Fiber One brownies in a series of online-only spots that feature the toking twosome trying to sell their “magic” brownies at a Burning Man-like festival in the dessert.

“It was an effort to reach boomers online in a fun and humorous way, leveraging the nostalgia from the 60s and 70s in tying that to the benefits of fiber,” said the associate marketing manager at Fiber One to AdAge. “As people are getting older the magic in the brownies of yesterday have transformed into something more relevant today.”

Wow, if that isn’t depressing…

Anyway, here’s one of the Cheech & Chong clips. It’s not terribly unfunny, for a brownie ad:
