Report: Dish Will Launch Blockbuster-Branded Streaming Service Next Month

The likes of Netflix, Hulu and Amazon will reportedly face some new competition, when Dish Network finally justifies its purchase of Blockbuster by starting a video streaming service in October.

Bloomberg reports Dish is pouncing on Netflix’s recently instituted price increase, and has lured Netflix-ditching Starz into its fold. Blockbuster currently sells streaming rentals individually, and Dish offers on-demand movies to subscribers, but the new service would expand the company’s offerings considerably.

Dish declined to comment on the subscription service, which is said to possibly offer films and shows on TV in conjunction with Blockbuster’s rent-by-mail service.
