Facebook Planning To Get Into Music Game

Now that Facebook is streaming movie rentals, it was only a matter of time until it got more deeply involved with music. Conflicting reports say that Facebook is going to either reveal its own music service or announce deeper integration with existing services at its developer conference Sept. 22.

CNBC posted on Twitter that Facebook will launch its own music service, but the AP, which goes into far more depth, cites an anonymous source who says the company will simply farm out its programming tools to other services to facilitate song discussion.

A Facebook spokesman gave the AP a non-denial, saying “we’re constantly talking to our partners about ways to improve these integrations.”
