GM Recalls 16,000 2012 Chevy Impala & Buick LaCrosse Vehicles

It isn’t even 2012 yet but General Motors is already recalling nearly 12,000 model year 2012 Chevrolet Impalas and more than 4,000 new Buick Lacrosse cars, each for different reasons.

The Impala recall is to inspect for proper installation of the power steering hose. If the hose has been installed improperly, it could be damaged and end up spraying power steering fluid onto a hot engine, which could result in your vehicle looking more like a barbecue grill than a car.

GM says it has called affected owners to let them know about it. Dealers will inspect the hose and replace it if needed.

Meanwhile, the LaCrosse recall is to reprogram the electronic brake control module because of an incorrect calibration that may cause the StabiliTrak electronic stability system to not properly detect a sensor malfunction and fail to illuminate a warning light.

Letters have been sent out via FedEx to affected LaCrosse owners. Dealers will reprogram the module on recalled vehicles.
