Man Dies From Pulmonary Embolism After Spending Hours Playing Xbox

If you’ve been sitting in the same position for hours at your computer, stand up now and stretch or do some jumping jacks: A 20-year-old man addicted to gaming has unfortunately been killed by that same dedication to Xbox, falling victim to a pulmonary embolism after sitting for hours playing online games.

His family has launched an awareness campaign, reports the AFP out of London, to warn others against the dangers of remaining in the same position for hours on end. The man, who had been known to play games for up to 12 hours straight, had been offered a place at Leicester University to study game design.

Travelers on long haul flights have been warned of deep vein thrombosis, and now experts are worried that addicted gamers are also at risks.

The man had no underlying conditions before he collapsed, and now his father wants to warn other parents.

Xbox makers Microsoft agree, saying they “recommend gamers take breaks to exercise as well as make time for other pursuits.”

Now stop reading this and go for a walk!
