South Dakota Town Puts Itself Up For Sale For $800K

If you’ve ever dreamed of being some sort of Wild West land baron, or maybe you and your friends want to act out the unmade final season of Deadwood, there is a town in South Dakota that can be all yours for the price of $799,000.

Not only is the town’s 46-acre setting scenic, so is its name: Scenic, South Dakota. For your money, you’d get a post office, convenience store, saloon, dance hall, museum, a historic train depot, two homes and two jails, but only one of which is in operation.

From CNBC:

Scenic used to be a booming Wild West town and it’s owned by a real, live cowgirl and former rodeo star, Twila Merrill…
Alas, every cowgirl knows when to hang up her hat and let the next rodeo star mount the horse. Merrill isn’t in the best of health so she and her daughter have put the town up for sale, hoping someone will come and breath new life into it.

But don’t rush into your purchase just yet. Be sure to peruse BuyScenicSD.com for full details, including video footage of an empty dance hall, complete with basketball net and pews:
