Consumer Reports Rates Britax B-Nimble Strollers 'Don't Buy'

If you’re in the market for a stroller with a confusing parking brake that could send your child rolling down a hill, consider the Britax B-Nimble stroller. Or…don’t. Our safely strolling siblings at Consumer Reports found the stroller’s parking brake system problematic, and have given it a “Don’t Buy” rating.

The confusion comes from the product’s manual, which instructs users to step on the parking brake pedal “until the wheels lock.” Fair enough. But stepping on the pedals produces an audible “click” sound, which could be mistaken for a signal that the wheels have locked. Other similar folding strollers have similar brakes that do firmly lock when either pedal is pushed down.

The president of Britax USA responded to Consumer Reports in an e-mail:

The audible click heard is not intended to indicate that the parking brake is engaged or locked. We encourage consumers to read user guides prior to use of any product.
