If You Still Have Stuff On Friendster, You'd Better Rescue It Soon

Friendster was MySpace before there was MySpace. The original gangsta social networking site rose to prominence before people were into that sort of thing and lost relevance when it was outclassed by MySpace, just as MySpace was by Facebook. Now Friendster, which was acquired by a Malaysian company in 2009, is reinventing itself as something that no longer has the need for your blogs and photos.

According to TechCrunch, Friendster emailed remaining users to tell them to extract data from the site before May 31, when it will purge just about everything.

From the email:

Our improved site is designed to create new profiles that allow you to connect differently with people and do things differently than other networking sites. Basically, the new site will complement your existing online presence in other social networking sites.

TechCrunch says Friendster will become an entertainment-oriented site that focuses on the Asian market.

If you used Friendster, what will you remember about your experiences with the social networking pioneer?
