Sony Exec Says Earthquake May Alter Portable Machine Release, Spokesman Says It Won't
Sony, which plans to release a follow-up to the PSP (codename: NGP) near the end of the year, has its wires crossed over whether or not last month’s earthquake and tsunami will affect the product’s launch.
Gamasutra compiles conflicting statements: First, an executive told Bloomberg that the disaster may restrict the device’s release until next year, then came a comment to Nikkei news agency from a spokesperson that calls the exec’s statement “wrong” and that there are no current plans to change the launch strategy.
Of course, no release window is set in stone, especially when PlayStation products are involved.
