Man Trains For Marathon While Eating McDonald's-Only Diet

It’s kind of the anti-Super Size Me: Calling himself the McRunner, a 36-year-old man from the Chicago area is eating only McDonald’s food products while training for the upcoming Los Angeles Marathon.

“My wife told me I was crazy,” he tells the Chicago Sun-Times. “But I love McDonald’s and I love running, and this was a great way to combine the two… I can do it because I’m running 100 miles a week.”

So what’s his diet? The Sun-Times writes:

He usually starts the day with a plate of hot cakes, an Egg McMuffin and an orange juice. He eats a grilled chicken sandwich for lunch, washed down with a large Coke, then enjoys a hamburger and fries for dinner, with cookies for desert. His only deviation from the McDonald’s menu is a daily multivitamin, tap water, and an energy gel he takes while on the road.

The McRunner says he doesn’t order large fries and has never had a Big Mac.

In spite of his proximity to McDonald’s Global HQ — and the fact he hasn’t been sued for using “Mc” in his blog URL — the McRunner says he has no connection with the Golden Arches other than his daily diet.

He also tells the Sun-Times he plans on beating his personal best time of two hours and 36 minutes. Which is about how long I have the burps for after I eat a McRib.
