Supreme Court Tells Parents They Can't Sue Vaccine Makers Over Harm To Children

A Supreme Court ruling protects vaccine makers from lawsuits filed by parents who believe vaccines have hurt their children.

According to The Washington Post, the Supremes voted 6-2 in a decision that vaccine makers must be immune in order to keep vaccines widely available. The ruling supports The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, leaving judgments about the safety of vaccines to the Food and Drug Administration.

The decision will prevent misguided parents who believe in a debunked study, popularized by celebrities including Jenny McCarthy, that contended autism could be caused by vaccines.
