It’s not surprising to hear that a woman in Illinois has filed a lawsuit against Sam’s Club after she slipped and fell inside one of the warehouse stores. But it’s not every day we read about that woman’s husband also filing a lawsuit against the discount chain, all because he can no longer consort with his wife.
According to reports, the woman was exiting the Sam’s Club in question — in Sept. 2009 — when she had a slip-and-fall. Her lawyers are blaming the nearby concession stand for the slippery slick. More precisely, they’re saying it’s because Sam’s Club didn’t do enough to warn customers of potential hazards on the floor.
The woman is asking for damages in excess of $50,000 for medical expenses, pain and suffering and loss of a normal life.
Her husband is also asking for more than $50,000 in damages, for “loss of consortium.”
