Dramatic Animated Recreation Of Flight Attendant Quitting, Using Emergency Slide

Taiwan news media produced this thrilling animated replay of how JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater quit his job, complete with cursing on the PA, beer grab, emergency slide run, and embracing his lover. This looks like the making of the best Sims mod ever!

    awesome, simply awesome.

  2. ktetch says:

tthey do this for a lot of stories. I’ve seen some of them before

    • Hooray4Zoidberg says:

Yes and it’s awesome it really takes the whole “pics or it didn’t happen” saying to a new level.

    • TailsToo says:

The best was the Steve Jobs Iphone 4 video….

      • GuyGuidoEyesSteveDaveâ„¢ says:

That was not this. You’re thinking of Next Media Animation (NMA), who make ones like these:

        And the iPhone one:

        • coren says:

Aren’t they the same video? Down to the boyfriend with no shirt?

          • GuyGuidoEyesSteveDaveâ„¢ says:

There was a few differences. They seem to use the animations as stock footage, and different stations cut them up to stick them in the stories. I think the ones I linked to are the straight animations that the news stations cut up.

    • Mr.Grieves says:

Lol best one imo was for the Tiger vs. his Wife battle. They fight, she breaks out the golf club as he runs, he crashes, and she smashes his windows lol.

  3. PanCake BuTT says:

Okay, I can’t believe Tin-Tin grabbed just one beer. Sliding down that looked like a lot of fun, & the drive home went pretty smooth. He even got some love at the door from his ‘roommate’. All & all I think it was a decent day for him. We’re blowing this all out of proportion, and so is this reenactment vid !

  4. humphrmi says:

I’m just waiting for Jet Blue to come up with a new sale to take advantage of all this publicity. Something along the lines of “Escape the everyday world, slide into savings” or some such.

  5. Yankees368 says:

haha, jetblue wishes they flew planes that big.

    • SlyPhox says:

      • Razor512 says:

The simulation hay have exaggerated the size of the plane but the model is probably a 1/10 scale model of their actual planes where when you enter, you automatically feel claustrophobic.

  6. Miss Dev (The Beer Sherpa) says:

It’s the music that makes it for me.

And I love the doorstep reunion.

  7. Zclyh3 says:

The best part is that it’s in Cantonese and I understood everything they said. haha

  8. Tim says:

Who’s the guy who he hugged when he got home?

Also, it was a regional jet, not a 747. In fact, JetBlue doesn’t even operate 747s.

    • Phil Villakeepinitrreal says:

      That would be his lover.

      He’s gay.

      • Conformist138 says:

50 police officers arrived to arrest him and found him banging his boyfriend. That is the perfect end to a perfect day.

Mr Slater, I think… I think I love you! Not one person survives even a single flight on a commercial airline without looking longingly at those emergency exits. Not only did this fulfill the fantasies of every flight attendant, but also of every passenger any airline has ever had in the history of commercial aviation.

At least American news hasn’t yet sunk to backing narration with cartoons. Not yet anyway.

  11. smo0 says:

Is it just me…. or is everyone else just loving this Korean animations of American news stories…?

    • satoru says:

Just to clarify it’s a Taiwanese news agency that does these videos.

I realize that we Asians look all the same to you :P But as these videos show, all you white people look the same to us!

      • satoru says:

Ok do double clarify this clip comes from the Hong Kong agency, while other clips have originated from the Taiwanese divisions. They’re basically the same company and just dub the same video in Cantonese or Taiwanese depending on where the video is released. Though to be accurate the parent company is from Hong Kong.

      • smo0 says:

LoL wow… I said Korean because I read somewhere that the one of Lindsay Lohan’s Jail experience was done and/or aired in Korean….

        but… yeah… about that…

        There, happy?

        • GuyGuidoEyesSteveDaveâ„¢ says:

Ahh, the Lindsay Lohan one from Next Media Animation (NMA), you mean? Epic. Because of it, I had to watch the “Telephone” video by Lady Gaga:

  12. Brink006 says:

Adult Swim shows these weekly. They’re incredible.

  13. dolemite says:

The Steve Jobs one is the absolute best. The only really funny parts of this one is where he saunters off after getting off the slide, and when his lover pulls him into the bedroom and slams the door.

I also find it interesting that their news outlets cover stuff like this. How often do we in the US get to hear any similar stories from ANY other country?

    • missdona says:

I like the Tiger Woods gets chased out of the house by Elin with a golf club one, myself.

    • Bob Lu says:

Actually, we (from Taiwan) have nearly every news you can find on CNN and NYT, plus some funny stuff from other tabloids (am I using the right word? I mean those news paper filled with UFO and Elvis Presley).

America, the world is watching you.

  14. Laughing-man says:

Misleading Summary. This is from the Hong Kong media (note the .HK), not the Taiwan media.

  15. Jack Handy Manny says:

I’m dissapointed that this is how I have to find out that his “buddy” greeted him in wearing only boxers. The AP needs to get thier ‘ish together.

  16. Mackinstyle1 says:

So… is this just a recurring joke to make these things, or is this Taiwanese news taking something seriously?

    • satoru says:

Quite the contrary, the media mogul running the Hong Kong and Taiwanese divisions that produce these videos take it very seriously. He’s obviously seeing the decline of print, and how the internet is impacting his traditionally print business (he sells various news papers and magazines throughout Hong Kong and Taiwan). He set up the ‘New Media’ paper in order to combat this trend in some way. They have an entire animation team that meets daily to decide what is news worthy to put into their animated series. They storyboard and produce their stuff pretty quickly. They had a video interviewing the CEO and his thought process and methodology of doing this. I can’t find the link now though.

In any case whether his business is successful or not, at least he’s trying something interesting. And we definitely enjoy it!

  17. Laughing-man says:

    Rough line by line translation:
Air Host yells at passenger, slides down and quits.
Quitting with style, STEVEN, was arrested at home while still smiling.
Yesterday at noon, this 38 year-old air host few from Pittsburgh to New York.
After the plane landed, but before it’s fully stopped, a passenger stood up and start retrieving luggage (audio: UUGH!)
Steven asked the passenger to apologize, but was met with vulgarity.
So he picks up the the mic and yells back obscenities (audio; BEEP BEEP BEEP)

He then crossed the tarmac and the airport. Went into the garage to retrieve his car and proceeds to drive home. Because he is homosexual, he went home and slept with his boyfriend.

Steven, in the ’90’s, started his career as air steward and previously changed his job to fashion clothing manager.
Prosecutors claims that unlawful opening of the escape ladder may place ground workers at harms way and may charge him for felonious crimes.
But on FACEBOOK, there are many people supporting him, calling his method of quitting epicly awesome.
And his neighbor was quoted saying that his mother has lung cancer and is about to die, with added to the stress and caused him to act this way.

Yay for engrish in the attempt to follow the Cantonese slang as closely as possible.

    • selianth says:

The transcription of “because he is homosexual, he went home and slept with his boyfriend” is just as hilarious to me as the animation that accompanied it. Thank you.

    • Caprica Six says:

+1 for the the boyfriend part!

    • Taliskan says:

Best translation bit: “Because he is homosexual, he went home and slept with his boyfriend. “

Clearly I am doing something wrong.

Thanks for the afternoon laugh. :D

    • GuyGuidoEyesSteveDaveâ„¢ says:

I just watch the videos with the English subtitles and the female narrator:

  18. TailsToo says:

Seriously, i would watch the news every night if it was like this… but it would have to be in Chinese.

    • Laughing-man says:

Most HK residents are incredibly camera-shy, so Sim-esque reenactments are quite common in HK news.

  19. teke367 says:

One of the other articles talked about how the slide and stealing alcohol were the biggest taboo things to do. I get the slide, but really, stealing a couple beers? Is that really the second greatest “F” you, I quit move for flight attendants?

    • dolemite says:

Well, the pilots get pissed when they go to the beer cooler for a few brewskies before a flight and it’s empty.

  20. BoredOOMM says:

Slater will earn a million when he prints the book “Air-Rage”

  21. mannyvel says:

    Slide into Savings with JetBlue?

  22. zimmi88 says:

Not bad, not bad… but I’m totally holding out for the Hollywood version of this escapade, starring Christian Slater.

  23. almightytora says:

Gotta love the gay boyfriend at 0:41. Epic.

  24. kdui says:

But you linked the Hong Kong version, not the Taiwan version.
