Do you feed your cat or kitten Iams ProActive Health canned food? Check the dates on the cans, because your noms may be part of a recall. The food isn’t dangerous in itself, but has dangerously low levels of vitamin B1, which is essential for cat nutrition.
Here are the symptoms of Vitamin B1 (thiamine) deficiency:
Early signs of thiamine deficiency may include loss of appetite, salivation, vomiting and weight loss. In advanced cases, signs may include ventroflexion (downward curving) of the neck, wobbly gait, falling, circling and seizures. Contact your veterinarian immediately if your cat is displaying any of these signs.
If you have this food in your house, with expiration dates between 9/2011 and 6/2012, throw it away and contact Proctor & Gamble at 877-340-8826 for a refund.
