Lettuce-Borne E.Coli Outbreak Hits Fourth State

Infected romaine lettuce from a single processing facility has been linked to the sickening of at least 23 people in four different states, NY, MI, TN, and OH, says the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

In conjunction, wholesalers Freshway Foods recalled their romaine lettuce with a “use by” date of May 17, and Vaughan Foods, with a use by date of May 9 and 10. The lettuce was not available for consumer retail purchase.

Symptoms of E.coli include bloody diarrhea and stomach cramps 2-8 days after consumption. Most recover in a week but there is the possibility of a more severe infection. Consult your doctor if you think you’re suffering from the effects of nasty lettuce.
