Murder Suicide At Downtown Chicago Old Navy

The Chicago Tribune reports that a man walked into the Old Navy store at State and Washington in Chicago’s Loop and shot his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself, sending panicked shoppers flooding out of the store.

From Chicago Breaking News:

“The boyfriend goes into the store and starts shooting,” one source said.

Chicago Police Chief of Patrol Eugene Williams said the man and woman were found in a restricted area open only to employees.

He said the woman worked at the store.

A patrol car was flagged down by a crowd of employees at about 11 am.

Star Walls, 31, was inside the store when the shots rang out. But she didn’t hear them because she was on the 3rd floor shopping for children’s clothes. She said the store appeared to be relatively full at the time.

“One of the (store) associates ran past me and told me to drop my bag and run out of the store, so that’s what I did,” she said. “One guy was crying.”
