DirecTV Bringing Detailed Local Crime Info Right To Your TV
Because we can never know enough about what crimes are being committed in our neighborhoods, DirecTv has teamed up with a website that tracks and maps police incident info to bring it to the TVs of subscribers across the country.
According to the folks at SpotCrime.com, which uses police reports to map crimes ranging from vandalism and theft to arson, assault and shooting, they’ve made a deal with DirecTV that will allow subscribers to access the site’s through an application on their DirecTV receiver.
“We just lucked into it,” Drane said of the DirectTV arrangement. “We reached out to them, they liked what we have and we were able to get it up and running pretty quickly.”
The question is — Is this information that you would find helpful? Or are some things better left unknown?
