Um, Why Are All The $1 BK Double Cheeseburgers I Buy Tiny?

Reader Shane has been to 3 separate Burger Kings in the Orlando, FL area and he would like to know why all the $1 BK Double Cheeseburgers he buys are tiny.

Shane says:

I have to spend the better part of 2 weeks each month in Orlando, Fl for business. During that time I unfortunately have to eat a lot of fast food. There are quite a bit of little idiosyncrasies that you put up with when you patronize fast food places and you learn to accept and deal with most. But the latest campaign by Burger King with their $1 Double Cheeseburger deal is disappointing at best, and an illegal bait-and-switch at the extreme (at least in the Orlando, Fl market).

…here is the picture on their website for the $1 Double Cheeseburger (similar to the picture on the menu board of every Burger King everywhere) See how big the patties are, and how they stick out past the bun on all sides?:

It seems they use kid’s meal hamburger patties or some such substitute to lower their costs. Is this type of misrepresentation going on nationwide?”

Hmm. We don’t know. Is it? The website describes the burger as “The 1/4 lb. Double Cheeseburger.” Time to call Weights and Measures.
