Chris, can you please add the name of the company that is offering sunglass deals at 6pm today? All it says is “.com” Also, is that EST?

I need some new running shoes. There is a new balance store near where I work, but I’ve never bought their shoes before. All I know is that they are expensive. Can anyone make any suggestions for good all around “gym shoes” that are decent for running.

Am I good just going to the newbalance store?

    • Coles_Law says:

New Balance makes a good shoe; however with me they wear out at the heel fairly quickly. If you’re not planning on running often, (say, less than 10 miles (or 1.5 hours) a week), a decent pair of cross-trainers will work just fine and cost you around $40.
If you’re running more than that (or plan to), or if you’ve had joint pain, shinsplints, or tendonitis, head to the New Balance store (or other running store). They can make sure you get a shoe that will work well with your foot type.

      • GuyGuidoEyesSteveDaveâ„¢ says:

I had a pair wear out at the heel, and New Balance replaced them. I would suggest you either have a larger shoe than you need, or might not be lacing them correctly. I’ve had a pair I walk with for 5 miles a night, and they are near three years old asnd still great in the heel.

        • Coles_Law says:

It’s entirely possible I wasn’t lacing them correctly, but I’ve never had that problem with other brands. I know the size lengthwise was fine, but they may have been too wide. New Balance is really good about making sizes in widths, so I could have gone for the B width if I needed.

Good to know their customer service is good. They make good shoes; I was just pointing out an issue I came across.

I’m not an avid runner, so I’ve had the same pair of Nikes for about five years, but from what I hear, New Balance is pretty good. Try Zappos or for better deals.

Go to a running store if you want decent running shoes.

Anyone know why I’m getting old posts in addition to today’s posts via RSS? It’s happened a few times now and I can never tell when I’m reading it in the feed – I even commented on a super old post by mistake because I didn’t check the date first (oops). I tried unsubscribing and resubscribing but that didn’t seem to work.

    • The Federalist says:

I’ve been getting old posts even on the blog page itself for some time now. Pressing F5 does nothing. I have to press CTRL+F5 to force refresh the page to make sure I’m seeing the latest stuff.
