Spurred By Consumer Email Campaign, Nebraska AG Smacks Down Bait-And-Switch Gas Stations

The Nebraska Attorney General has told the Conoco that posted low prices on its signs but then charged 25-50 cents higher per gallon on most of the pumps to stop its deceptive advertising practices.

The station will also donate $5,000 to each of three different charities.

Justice, consider yourself served. The great thing about this story is that it all started with with one irate consumer, Margaret Williams, whose email promoting a boycott of the two stations prompted news coverage.

Just goes to show you that one pissed off person in the right can take a stand and make a difference.
