GlaxoSmithKline Spams Its Critics

Part of GlaxoSmithKiline’s marketing campaign appears to take place in comment spam. This is old news: Jack Silbert over at Stay Free! Daily blew that wide open over a year ago, getting the news picked up by USA Today!

GlaxoSmithKline acted contritely. They promised not to do it again. Jack engaged in an email dialogue with them, in which promises were made. No more blog comment spam from GSK!

Of course, that doesn’t rule out email spam….

Jack has now begun receiving spam directly from GSK, apparently having been added to an internal list of potential customers by GSK’s marketing department. In his case, Jack’s opprobrium seems equivalent to the ranting of an old, toothless man. So they’ve started spamming him with email campaigns for denture products. What an excellent way of reaching out to their more outspoken critics!
