UPDATED: Verizon Wireless Does Something Nice

UPDATE: We called Verizon and they confirmed this is a legitimate offer.

Verizon’s not all about ripping the skin off babies and using it to wipe their ass. Sometimes, a brief spark of compassion glimmers in their soul. Think a single speck of star dust, somehow spontaneously coming into being in the black vacuum of space, then just as quickly being snuffed like it was never been. If you blink, you might miss it!

So try not to miss this before Verizon’s compassion blinks out of being, as if it had never been. Verizon Wireless is giving all existing customers 100 Free Anytime Minutes. All you need to do is go over to the handy form, enter your name, telephone number, zip code and last four digits of your social security number. That’s a security procedure, apparently — god forbid, someone should apply some free minutes to your account without your permission!

Verizon Wirless – 100 Free Minutes (Thanks, Clarence!)

Is it just me or does the site look like a phishig site?

  2. pete says:

    phishing – duh
Shouldn’t it be a secure page?
Can we get a confirmation from Consumerist?

  3. Crud, my life is over. Really. I submitted my info, the site said it was invalid, and the phone number didn’t work. Now what do I do?

Doing a whois on both verizonwireless.com and vzwshop.com reveals they are both legit verizon domains – same registrar, address, etc., and MarkMonitor.com is managing them. I got the same result (invalid) as btvillarin did but I really doubt it’s a phishing site. If it is then their whois info has also been hacked.

I just called Verizon and they said it’s legit.
