Dell’s Crazy Shipping Shennanigans Continue

Or, “Dude! You’re never getting a Dell!”

You might remember our previous story, but a recap if you don’t. When Paul over at Wizbang ordered a Dell PC in April, he was told he would get the package imminently. Almost immediately, he received a follow-up email informing him that the shipping date had slipped to May 2nd. On May 2nd, Paul received an email telling him the shipping date had slipped to May 9th. Guess what happened on the 9th? That’s right: shipping slipped to the 16th.

When he called, he was routed to Dell India, where a helpful punjabi informed him that he actually could never get his package, as the product had been discontinued. Even more curiously, he was told that Dell’s system automatically added a week delay to missed ship dates, even for nonexistent products.

But it gets better. When his original blog post came to the attention of a Dell employee, said employee promised to help him get it resolved. The order was cancelled; Paul bought something new.

Guess what he received in his email on the supposed ship date? Subject: Ship date + 7! Thanks to Arthur for the tip!
